Calder Painted Cirque Long Sleeve Shirt

Sale price$1,200.00
This piece was created by Bode in honor of the centennial celebration of Calder’s Circus, in collaboration with the Calder Foundation and the Whitney Museum of American Art. First created in Paris in 1926, Alexander Calder’s Cirque is a portable miniature circus fashioned from wire, cork, fabric, and other materials—at once sculpture, theater, and performance.

This shirt, handmade in New York, is handpainted with Calder’s illustrations of animals. The contrast pocket is an interpretation of the flag from the Circus’s “Fanni, the Belly Dancer” act. Each collar point is finished with an antique milliner flower, referencing garlands from the Circus “Chariot Race” act, and the cuffs are trimmed with French tricolor rosettes.

Each item is unique; no two pieces are exactly alike. Please Note: This item is non-returnable. All sales are final.

Chest: 23.25 inches.
Collar to hem: 30.75 inches.

100% Cotton
Made in the USA
Dry clean only. Remove milliner flowers before cleaning.
