This shirt features original poetry by Tribes’ late founder, poet, playwright, novelist, professor, and prolific mentor, Steve Cannon. This memorial T-shirt design is a collaborative project between the Steve Cannon Estate, and A Gathering of the Tribes, and was produced with assistance from artist Itziar Barrio.
The Steve Cannon Tribute T-shirt project is an ongoing collaboration between the Steve Cannon Estate, and A Gathering of the Tribes. This project seeks to honor Steve Cannon’s legacy by commissioning diverse artists from Tribes vast network to create original portraits and designs paying tribute to our late founder.
Proceeds from sales of these shirts benefit A Gathering of the Tribes, which is a 501 C 3 registered, nonprofit arts organization, committed to amplifying the voices of traditionally under-represented artists and writers.
A Gathering of the Tribes / Steve Cannon are featured in the 2022 installment of the Whitney Biennial: Quiet as It’s Kept.
