Following up on Shantell Martin's May Room on Governors Island and her month of positive well wishes and prompts for poetry and contemplation she sent out into the world from her shelter at home during lockdown in May of 2020, these key tags serve as small reminders to be well and do well in this time. These small key tags that are great alone or in multiples are also reminiscent of a childhood collectible favorite of the artist's, Kickers shoe tags, and as such present a sense of welcome nostalgia during these trying times.
Elizabeth Beer & Brian Janusiak formed Various Projects, Inc. as a multidisciplinary creative collaboration in 2005 and Various Keytags™ evolved from a single souvenir into its own entity with an infinite number of word and phrase variations with an almost cult-like following. In addition to Various Keytags and numerous other projects and products that remain, Various Projects is known for a legacy of questioning methods of production, distribution, and the creation of fluctuating communities around commerce.
