Michele Benjamin Bee Necklace

Look at the lapel of any security guard here at the Whitney and you will see a Michele Benjamin Bee. This motif was commissioned by Whitney Trustees on the occasion of the opening of the new building and given as a gift to each guard in honor of their service. A little known fact about the Whitney's new home is that there are two hives of bees hard at work on our roof. They are making award winning Flora Honey-so named in honor of Flora Miller Biddle, Honorary Chairman of the Whitney Museum and granddaughter of Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney.
