Mary Heilmann is known for vibrant paintings that marry taut abstract forms with quivering line and vivid color. The Whitney holds several Heilmann pieces in its collection and inaugurated its largest outdoor gallery with her project Mary Heilmann: Sunset, in 2015. In the 1990's Mary Heilmann created several silkscreened fabrics at The Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia. One of these fabrics formed the inspiration for this scarf which was produced by Paul Marlow in Italy, especially for the Whitney Shop.
