A Symbol of Constancy distills 22 original collages from a large body of work made in 2020, and includes a statement on the work by the artist. A portion of these works originally appeared in the limited edition artist book Ship of State with Peter Gizzi. This volume is a final statement of a body of work from the last eight years.
From the preface:
These images come from deeply looking over a long period of time into houses, rooftops, horizons, winter and woods. Scenes from car windows of childhood driving through Ohio landscapes. The works are concerned with places inside and outside of time. And time as a concept, or as something tangible, is as crucial to the materiality of these works as architecture, trees, paper and sky.
Artwork printed color offset. All text printed letterpress from hand set metal type. Sewn and bound by hand, and housed in a dust jacket with a letterpress printed paste down.
