Product Description

Details

Designed by Kenny Scharf, exclusively for the Whitney Museum, this pool floaty will delight everyone. Scharf was excited to partner with the Whitney to make this pool floaty, as it is the reinterpretation of a previously unrealized public art installation. Limited edition of 1000. Material: 0.2mm PVC. Size: 30X18 inch (76cm x 45cm); Inner ring: 14 inch. Warning: Not a life saving device. Use only in shallow waters.

Kenny Scharf rose to prominence alongside his friends and contemporaries Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring in the East Village art scene of the 1980s. One of the first artists to inject elements of street culture into the main stream of contemporary art, Scarf has continued to pioneer projects like his Cosmic Cavern - a now legendary all-night DayGlo disco party held in the basement of a Brooklyn warehouse from 2009-2010. His paintings incorporate imagery from advertisements, cartoons and classic Americana into exuberant compositions with an underlying subversive edge. He is currently an active artist creating large scale murals across the country as well as exhibitions in prominent galleries and museums.
